PMI Mortgage Insurance Ltd., is dedicated to corporate social responsibility and making homeownership possible. Our relationship with Habitat for Humanity for Humanity is a perfect fit to do so. The PMI Group, Inc. through its subsidiary PMI Mortgage Insurance Co., is a Cornerstone Sponsor of Habitat for Humanity International and has built or contributed to more than 130 Habitat homes worldwide.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organisation providing affordable housing for low-income families in need. Habitat builds simple, decent, affordable homes, in partnership with people in need. Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 200,000 houses in over 100 countries. A Habitat house is completed somewhere in the world every twenty-four minutes.
In Australia and New Zealand, PMI Mortgage Insurance Ltd (PMI) not only provides a monetary commitment to Habitat for Humanity, but also encourages staff to get their hands dirty onsite to help build houses. Since our involvement with Habitat for Humanity began in 2001, PMI has provided over 320 volunteer days to help build Habitat homes.
In 2005, PMI became a Cornerstone Sponsor of Habitat for Humanity in Australia and in New Zealand, sponsoring a total of nine houses in Australia and three houses in New Zealand over three years. Our long term mission is to build one Habitat home in each state of Australia per year.
